Are you convicted yet? I mean, really convicted of your inactivity as a believer and follower of Jesus Christ? Please do not take this question as derogatory or condemning but as a challenge to seek your heart and ask Holy Spirit if you are all you can be for God's Kingdom.
Christianity is not a spectator sport. We have plenty of things to entertain us, but our faith should not be one of them. Many claiming to be Christians are not being doers of the word.
The Bible tells us to But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves. - Jas 1:22
Notice this verse mentions being deceived by only hearing the word and doing nothing with it. There is a danger in claiming the gift of salvation but not doing anything with it. We are not to squander the gift of God that is in us.
Although there are many reasons why people do not get engaged with others in outreaches, Bible studies, or other types of kingdom things, all of them are earthly-minded excuses and not Kingdom minded principles.
People watch others do something for various reasons; when it comes to sports those reasons are usually because they used to play that sport and cannot anymore. Or maybe another reason is that they always wanted to be a famous sportsperson but never became one. The list goes on for reasons why people watch other people do something but do not participate themselves.
However, for a believer in Christ, we are to be imitators of Jesus. If you are a believer in Jesus Christ, you do your best to do what He did because He commanded you to do something. Christians should be active in the ministry of signs and wonders in the form of healings, miracles, speaking with diverse tongues, and casting out demons! Christianity means being engaged in a relationship with the Holy Spirit and operating in God's dunamis power through Him!
Is unbelief or doubt a reason why you are not actively engaged in ministry? When I say ministry it is not just for within the Church but even more so outside of the Church. The market place has the biggest harvest but not enough laborors.
Notice that Jesus rebuked His disciples for unbelief, and then He charged them with the work of ministry. He said, 15… "Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature. 16 "He who believes and is baptized will be saved; but he who does not believe will be condemned. - Mar 16:15-16
After the disciples preached the word, salvations, signs and wonders would manifest. 17 "And these signs will follow those who believe: In My name they will cast out demons; they will speak with new tongues; 18 "they will take up serpents; and if they drink anything deadly, it will by no means hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover." - Mar 16:17-18 NKJV
Jesus did not say these signs shall follow only those called to be pastors but ALL believers were capable of such things! This should get you excited about your faith. You do not have to stand by and watch the anointed with pulpits do all the work! Some of the best moments I have had in ministry has been when I did not know I was called. I would see a situation, hear God say "go" and I would go and do whatever I thought I was supposed to do. I was always blessed.
Where is the Church today with these things? Where is the Church with the laying on of hands to see people healed and delivered? I know there are churches around America and the world that have not given up on God's promise to pour out His Spirit on all people (Joel 2). But, it does not seem to be the norm. Many people are still afraid of the pandemic of 2020 that they refuse to go around people in public. Some have put their faith in a mask to protect them and in a faulty vaccine as well.
How is it that we can believe in a supernatural God that created everything we see with His word and will not believe on God for protection? How is it that we believe God sent His Son to be born of a virgin (by His Spirit), yet do not believe He will see us through in sickness and health? How is it that we believe God became Man, died, resurrected, visited hell, and sat down at the right hand of God but do not believe we can operate in the signs and wonders promised?
All these questions are something we should ask ourselves. If we would ask, we will probably come to the realization that we have a soul issue. Soul sickness in the form of fear, doubt, worry, selfishness, or inadequacy are some of the problems we face when it comes to being actively engaged with God for His purposes to be done on earth. You are an overcomer because Jesus overcame it all for you. Take courage and believe God! You will be blessed and so will those around you.
Let's pray,
Heavenly Father, forgive me for being a spectator and not a player in the kingdom works. I never intended to be fruitless in Your salvation and now that I am aware of where I am lacking I am ready to fully engage with Your Spirit. Holy Spirit fill my soul to overflowing and help me do the things I was made to do. Let me glorify God. In Jesus name, Amen
